Kings Beach State Recreation Area features 979 feet of beautiful frontage property along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. This day-use only area has a large sandy beach and multiple picnic tables under the shade of Jeffery pines. On May 15, 2014 California State Parks officially took over operations and maintenance of Kings Beach State Recreation Area and the boat launch facility. The North Tahoe Public Utilities District (NTPUD) had operated the park since 1978.
Public Boat Ramp - CLOSED
The Kings Beach boat ramp is located off of the Coon Street round-about, but is closed due to insufficient lake levels. Available public boat ramps are listed with Tahoe Boat Inspections.
Fishing
Kings Beach has a shallow shelf which requires a good distance away from shore to reach deeper waters. While the fishing is not usually spectacular at Kings Beach, fishing is allowed. A fishing license is required.
Day Use
Kings Beach State Recreation Area is a day-use only facility, with 18 picnic tables, barbeques, restrooms, a playground, a half court for basketball, fishing, and water sport activities available.
There are restroom facilities located east of the main parking lot next to the playground and also near the Coon St. Boat ramp. The Coon St. restroom facilities are closed and winterized during the winter season.
Barbeques
All picnic tables and barbeque pits are first come, first serve. Charcoal barbeques are not allowed, however, charcoal may be used in the barbeques provided; coals must be removed from the park at the conclusion of your visit. Propane barbeques are allowed on the beach and picnic areas.

Location
Kings Beach SRA is located in downtown Kings Beach, between Bear and Coon streets on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The park is approximately one mile west of the Nevada State Line and thirteen miles southeast of Truckee, CA from Highway 267.
Climate
Summer temperatures range from about 75 degrees during the day to the low 40's at night. Winter temperatures average from a high of 40 to a low of 20 degrees. High Sierra weather is varied and can change abruptly. It is recommended to bring layered clothing and check weather updates. Water temperature is available from NOAA.gov
